That is the question asked during this year’s “Are You Smarter Than A Gaston County Fifth Grader?” competition. Sponsored by the Gaston County Education Foundation, the game show-like event raised funds for the Ron L. Ensley grants program.
So, who is the smartest? It’s the team featuring Belmont Central Elementary School.

Belmont Central is continuing its commitment to excellent academics! We rank among the top 10 schools in Gaston County for having the highest student proficiency, we met our academic growth expectations, and we earned a B school performance grade, which is challenging to achieve on the state accountability and testing program.

Our teachers at Belmont Central Elementary School are certified in Academically and Intellectually Gifted (AIG) education. Students can participate in AIG activities during flex time throughout the school day.
Belmont Central Elementary School also offers enrichment clusters. These allow students to explore topics they’re interested in, helping them become more well-rounded and giving them opportunities to discover potential hobbies for the future.

Thanks to our partnership with Kintegra Health, we offer a telehealth clinic here at our school. Students, who are experiencing a minor illness or condition, can be seen by a medical provider virtually.
